2001 Season - Week 13

Injured Reserve

This is where we get to that part of the season when players are ruled out for the rest of the year, usually when niggling injuries won’t go away and teams are out of play-off contention. Last week saw Mark lose his QB Charlie Batch (Detroit) and Gully lose TE Tony McGee (Cincinnati) - see what I mean about being out of play-off contention! Only once a player is placed on IR (Injured Reserve) is the roster spot freed up allowing you to select a replacement. You get his budget back unless he is your Franchise Player. Mark has signed Pittsburgh’s Kordell Stewart as his Injury Replacement, whilst Gully was delighted with the opportunity to choose another player from his fave position, selecting NY Jet Anthony Becht. I will be checking the NFL Transactions every other day so should any of your players be placed on IR I will let you know by email as soon as I find out. Johnny’s Christmas Crystal Balls In a rather unpleasant moment on Sunday Johnny got out his Crystal Balls and made a few predictions concerning the end of season positions. With Culpepper and Bettis out injured he believes the Chiefs run at the top cannot last and has stated that Junior BUM will win the league by 10 points (go on my son, er...although maybe not in this case). As for the relegation zone I’m afraid with 4 weeks to go AP, Junior BUM Jr and John may as well start doing their Xmas shopping as Mystic Johnny cannot see you guys surviving the drop now. And while he plays without one of his Running Back’s (Brookings is out for 4 weeks minimum) and his kicker keeps missing Field Goals (6 in the last 3 games and a missed PAT on Sunday) Johnny believes that the other 2 relegation spots are wide open between Phil, Wayne, Cheryl, David S, Dave G, Mark, Gully and himself. Personally I think his 2nd placed 30 points this week has made him safe but anyone from Gully down could still take a fall. There are still plenty of BUMS players to play this week in the Sunday and Monday night games (13 in the teams Johnny has mentioned for the 2 drop spots and 20 in total) so check the website on Thursday afternoon for a full update. BUMS Midweek Games The Sunday evening game (Seattle @ Denver) will be viewed at 6pm on Monday evening at BUMS HQ. MNF featuring The Colts at Miami will be at 7pm Wednesday at Johnnys, the home of the biggest Fish Fan north of France. With the college season over (bar the Christmas/New Year Bowl games) next week sees two games played on Saturday night Arizona @ NY Giants at 5:30 GMT followed by Oakland @ San Diego @ 9pm GMT
